Valve’s digital distribution service, Steam, has once again broken its record for the number of simultaneously online users, surpassing its previous peak set on August 25.
Latest Record Milestone
According to SteamDB, on September 22 at around 17:00, the peak online user count reached an impressive 38,367,277. Although this figure marks a new high in total users, the number of players actively in games was slightly below 12.3 million, falling short of the 12.5 million record achieved at the end of August. Nonetheless, this milestone reflects Steam’s continuous growth in user engagement.
August Record and Contributing Factors
Just a month earlier, on August 25, Steam surpassed 37 million users online for the first time. The action role-playing game Black Myth: Wukong was credited by many journalists for contributing significantly to this surge. Even a month later, the game continues to maintain its place among the top 15 most popular games, as tracked by SteamDB.
