In honor of iOS 18’s release, Apple Music now includes playlists with haptic tracks. Apple has explained the concept behind “music you can feel” and why it’s a feature you might want to explore.
What is Music Haptics?
The new feature, called Music Haptics, is accessible via the iPhone’s settings (Settings → Accessibility). When activated, users can experience specially designed “haptic playlists” available on Apple Music. These tracks are optimized for the iPhone’s Taptic Engine, allowing listeners to feel the music through subtle vibrations.
Apple highlights that Music Haptics makes music more inclusive, offering an experience even for those who may have never heard music before, including individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The feature brings an added layer of accessibility and engagement to music listening.
How It Works and What to Expect
When the feature is turned on, a special icon will appear on the screen, allowing users to easily toggle vibrations on or off. Apple reports that millions of tracks are now optimized for this feature, and curated playlists like Haptics Hits, Haptics Bets, Haptics Bass, and Haptics Vibrations provide a collection of songs enhanced for haptic feedback.
This new functionality is available on iPhone 12 models and newer, with the exception of iPhone SE 3, adds NIX Solutions. The dedicated playlists can be accessed via a special page in Apple Music.
We’ll keep you updated on any further developments surrounding this feature and its availability.
